Common questions about insurance, telemedicine, and what to expect when you start care with OVP Health.
OVP Health works with most major commercial insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. Coverage for behavioral health services can vary by plan and location, so we recommend calling your nearest OVP Health center — our team will verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs before your first visit.
Yes. Most counseling, medication management, and follow-up visits are available by secure video. Some services, such as initial psychiatric evaluations, may need to start in person depending on your provider and state. Call your local center to confirm what’s offered via telemedicine for your situation.
Your first appointment is typically 45–60 minutes. Your provider will review your history, current concerns, medications, and goals for care. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with — the first visit is about building a plan together. Please arrive 15 minutes early (or log in early for telemedicine) to complete intake paperwork.
A photo ID, your insurance card, a list of current medications and dosages, and the name and contact info of any other providers you’d like us to coordinate with. For telemedicine visits, find a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection.
Yes. All behavioral health visits are protected by HIPAA and state privacy laws. Information is only shared with your written consent, except in rare situations involving safety, as required by law.
Self-pay rates vary by service and location. Initial psychiatric evaluations and therapy intakes are typically higher than follow-up visits. Many OVP Health centers offer sliding-scale fees based on household income, and our team will walk you through all options before your first appointment — there are no surprise bills.
Most new patients are seen within 3–5 business days, and same-week appointments are often available. If you’re in urgent need, let our intake team know when you call — we do our best to fit urgent cases in sooner. For after-hours crisis support, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
